William Cormie is announced as the winner of the Unsung Hero Award at this years Property Week Management All-Star Awards

We’re absolutely delighted to announce that William Cormie from Clyde Shopping Centre has won the unsung hero award at the 2018 Property Week Management All-Star Awards.

William has worked at the centre for 18 years and started as an internal housekeeper, after a short period he moved to work with the external cleaning and grounds-keeping and this is where William has proved to be invaluable.

William doesn’t drive so relies on public transport, for the first 15 years at the centre there were no buses on a Sunday so he walked the 8 mile distance every week without fail, even in heavy snowfall to start his shift at 6am and never complained.

William can always be relied upon to get the work done to the highest possible standard and been instrumental in helping the team at Clyde achieve great strides in sustainability, significantly reducing waste, increasing recycling and improving biodiversity in the grounds. In recognition of this, Clyde has achieved:

• 11 Green Apple Awards

• 2 Green Hero awards

• 3 CSR World Ambassador awards

• International CSR excellence award

• SCEPTRE award

• PWMA Sustainability award

• Scottish Resource Award for Food Waste

William does not take any extra credit or look for praise for these achievements however, he just shrugs it off as just being part of his daily duties.

Huge congratulations to William – this recognition is so well deserved.
